Aura sat at the desk in the back of the medical wing going over his "notes". He was in detention again and bored out of his mind. That was what he guessed to be the only lovely thing about being a vampire. He was constantly stuck with being a student over and over again.
A sigh escaped his lips as he flipped through the papers with impressive speed. A groan from one of the students got him to lift his head slightly, at which he coughed. "I guess this means we learned not to try to out smart the shifting staircase and try to jump to the next platform?"
Aura shook his head and went back to his notes. Nothing noticable ever happened during detention. He opened his time worn book and came across a picture of a girl he once knew. Exceptional beauty. The first he'd ever let live. The only he had ever let live. As he sat there he let his mind slip away to times that once were.

Zara had made her way up to the hospital wing after a long day. She was going to do an evening shift up here as part of her work experience. Wanting to be a healer meant she had to be thrown right in and the more prior experience she had the more likely she was to get a place to study.
Reaching the wing she walked inside and took of the heavy set of robes and placed them on the back of a chair with her bag. Picking up a clipboard of notes to see that there were only two people in here tonight. Thank goodness she had brought a book with her. It looked like this night was about to turn out to be less exciting than she had hoped it would be.

Aura looked up as someone entered. His eyes widened and he snapped the book shut. Sliding it into his bag, he completely forgot the photo on the desk and stood. "Ummm. Hey." These words were all he could manage to get out as he looked at her. He took a deep breath and shook his head.
He figured his standard greeting would have to do with those that entered here. "What can I help you with, seeing as how you don't look broken?" Aura realized what he had said after he had said it. With a deep breath, he shook his head and spotted the photo, hoping he had enough time to snag it up before she saw it. His hand reached for it's faded surface slowly.

Zara jumped when she heard the voice. Her blue eyes landed on the boy. "Looks can be decieving." The last thing she wanted was for her bitchy side to come out but it had been a long day and she'd have rather spent the evening alone than with a complete stranger.
"I don't need your help with anything. I am helping out with the night shift here." she informed him. Zara placed the clipboard back on the tale and spotted the photograph. "Is this yours?" Zara asked him.

Aura smiled and nodded. "That they can." He laughed slightly as he took in exactly what was going on around him. He tended to blow off a lot of things as he sat around. There wasn't much for a conversation when he was here. Despite being a vampire, he was a very social being.
He smiled at the girl again. "Woo. Company. I'm Aura. Those are the two nerds that tried to kill themselves on the shifting stair this morning." Aura laughed, even though it was a feeble attempt at a joke. He then caught her question and nodded. "Yeah. She was an old friend." Aura smiled slightly and then looked back at his notepad on the desk. His notes written in perfect calligraphy starting to annoy him slightly.

"Nice to meet you Aura. I'm Zara." Looking over at the two beds she rolled her eyes. "Why am I not surprised." Stupider things had happened at Hogwarts. She looked back down at the photograph and then up at him. "You should keep it safe then." Zara said to him.
She sat herself on the edge of the table. "Where is she now?" Curiosity often surpassed politeness with her. Hopefully it wouldn't be a problem and if it was... well he shouldn't have left personal belongings laying about the place.

Aura sighed and lowered himself silently into the chair with an uncommon grace. "If I knew, it would probably end bad." Aura kept his statements precise as he sat there. He didn't mind the curiosity. In fact, he welcomed it as he hoped his tone suggested. He leaned back in the chair and lifted the picture from the desk, the image finding it's way into the inside pocket of his vest.

Her brow furrowed slightly. "What do you mean?" Zara asked him. It seemed like a slightly odd statemnt. Her eyes followed him as he sat down in the chair. She stopped leaning against the table and instead sat on it. Her legs were swinging slightly.

Aura sighed and looked at her. "Most don't take my kind lightly." He made it a point to show her his fangs as he spoke. Most people wondered why he opted for the medical ward for detention. Some saw it as torturing himself, others thought it was unsafe for the other students. All in all it came down to one thing. Aura was good at healing and he preferred the quiet. What did a few souls mean in exchange for those few hours of peace?

Seeing his fangs as he spoke Zara nodded. "I was wondering when I'd bump into you." She gave him a smile. "It's a shame that people pass their judgement." It can't have been easy for him and she knew to a certain extent what it felt like to be isolated. "Maybe you will end up seeing her again at some point." Zara said to him gently.

"Bump into me?" Aura's curiosity shown through almost instantly. He leaned forward and smiled. "Why, pray tell, where you looking forward to meeting me?" He was so wrapped up in that one little thought that he missed the rest of what she had said. He felt like he had met her before and could not figure out how or where, so he left it alone for the time being. This was all to intriguing to him to pass up.

"I'm a seer." Zara told him simply. She then laughed quietly. "Well... I was interested to say the least." When she had seen him it had been hazy. Not that she complained, sometimes being a seer spolied the fun in life. "Not quite sure if it's living up to its expectations yet." Zara teased him.

Aura laughed and leaned back again. His dirty blonde hair fell over his eyes. "Yeah, I know. I am not much to look at. You try being 16 for thirty years." He laughed and spun in the chair. "It does have some advantages though. I get to meet pretty girls like you." Not paying attention, Aura's chair tipped and he collided with the ground hard. Instead of complaining or whining about it, Aura laid there and laughed.

"Hmmm. Considering that factor you aren't too bad looking." Zara told him. Something inside her felt a lot lighter. She was enjoying his company. He didn't irritate her instead he made her laugh. Zara couldn't even respond to his comment as the chair tipped and Aura fell out of it. She couldn't help but bend over double and laugh. "Are you okay?" she asked him eventually.

Aura laid there and tried to catch his breath. After some time, he nodded furiously. "Yeah, though I think I broke my ass. 'Tis cracked." He laughed more, the cold stone floor feeling warm on him as a sunny day would to a human. It was comfortable. He looked up at her and smiled. "I will stay here so the chair can't kick my ass again." The mental image of a monsterous chair made Aura giggle again.
